Broadland II kept this morning’s league leaders at arm’s length and flooded the midfield to prevent Diss from counter attacking down the centre. Diss’s star player and debutant Siobhan Dade worked hard to keep their attacks going, but Broadland’s Tamsin Highfield, Abi Dennison, Martina Rothe and captain Nikki Richards showed enough grit, skill and determination to blunt, breakdown and then turn defence into attack.  With no score at the break Broadland looked to its wingers, particular their star player Kat Maddox who broke down the right and advancing into the circle struck a wonderful attempt from the very edge of the circle which gave the home side the lead.  Diss, pressing for an equaliser found Broadland’s defence resolute.  Defender Tessa Hewett playing only her second league match impressed as did Anna Heinevetter a recent recruit from their ‘back to hockey’ campaign.  Tamsin Highfield doubled Broadland’s lead when she aced a penalty corner with 10 minutes remaining but with Pamela Keely replying for Diss the last few minutes were a tense and feisty affair.
