Norwich Exiles with a strong attacking line-up started brightly enough but went behind when Dereham’s high flying centre forward beat Ken Shaddock in the Exiles goal with a well placed strike into the left corner. A controversial decision and a moments loss in concentration allowed Dereham to double their lead. A determined Exiles started to put pressure on the equally stubborn Dereham defence but again conceded just before the break. 3 - 0 down and 35 minutes left on the clock. Within minutes of the restart Rob Panter and Rob Whiting pulled goals back for Exiles but as the game flowed from one end to the other a penalty corner strike from Dereham put the pressure back on the visitors. Sensing that they were still in the game, Exiles strengthened their resolve and pulled a goal back through Rob Dix with a penalty flick and now with a point in sight found the equaliser they clearly deserved minutes from the end when Simon Nisbet found the back of the Dereham goal. A 4-4 result is a fair reflection of both teams skills and determination
