Match Report | East Hockey League Division 5 (North East) Norwich Exiles 3 Bury St Edmunds III 1 A strong Norwich Exiles line up saw the return of Thomas Cowper Johnson to bolster their defences’. A solid midfield of Arthur Carey, Rob Panter and Ric Powley saw Exiles dominating early play, with an excellent goal from Robbie Whiting who volleyed home from close in. Whiting doubled the Exiles lead with his second of the game before a muscle injury robbed Exiles of Rob Amey their dynamic midfield player. A goal from Carey just before half time increased Exiles hold on the game which was timely as Bury rallied and came out fighting in second half playing some good passing hockey. With Exiles defence now showing cracks and struggling to clear the circle, Bury pulled a goal back. Great saves from Edward Scott, the Exiles keeper, prevented Bury from getting back into the game, as did a rigorous and successful appeal against a possible second Bury goal, the ball not having been played inside the circle by a Bury player. |
