Match Report | Division 1 Broadland II 3 Dereham IV 1 Broadland gave it their all in the early exchanges and their efforts were rewarded with two goals in three minutes before their lively markswoman Nikki Baker, was withdrawn suffering a hand injury. The withdrawal, and readjustment of the Broadland attack allowed Dereham IV back into the contest with Tamsin Dye a constant threat in and around the circle. It was her cross in the open minutes of the second half, converted at the far post by her daughter Ellie, that kept Dereham in the game. Dereham pressing hard for an equaliser were always susceptible to the counter attack and ultimately conceded again following a stiff challenge on Broadland’s Carre Varley. It was Varley’s strike from the resulting penalty corner that took a deflection off a defender’s stick, which sealed the victory for the home team. Broadland’s star player, playing her first league game was Sophie White who made numerous goal line clearances as did Sharon Weeks their goal keeper who diverted a number of attempts around the post with her hand. |
