Match Report | Division 1
Thetford 0 Broadland 5 A clinical strike from Nikki Baker after just one minute set up Broadland for one of the most comprehensive wins of the season against the division 3’s bottom side. Carre Varley worked her way through a host of Thetford defenders to get a strong strike on goal which gave the inexperienced Thetford keeper little opportunity to make a save. Broadland, dominating the midfield with Abi Dennison and Tamsin Highfield keeping a firm grip on the ball, went further ahead with another well struck attempt from Baker and finished the half as they started with a glorious goal from Varley after she again turned the home team’s defence inside out. Thetford started the second half in a more determined fashion and began to look a little more dangerous when attacking, but with Broadland’s rearguard mopping up every thing that was thrown at them, never saw sight of Broadland’s keeper Jenni Martin who never touched the ball during the whole of the game. Sophia Walker was outstanding and worked tirelessly for Thetford throughout the match, but even she could not prevent Varley completing her hat trick with Broadland’s fifth goal and the last hit of the game. |
