Match Report | Division 3 Broadland III 2 Dereham V 1 Broadland III started their league season with a hard fought battle against a very enthusiastic and younger Dereham V. Wendy Anema gave Broadland an early lead as she fired in from just inside the circle. Anema doubled Broadland’s advantage when Shaz Weeks slipped the ball to her at a penalty corner. Her fierce shot leaving the Dereham defence completely flatfooted. Dereham stepped up their game and pulled a goal back when Izzie McEwen tapped in a rebound off the post. Encouraged by this Dereham strengthened their resolve but an equally determined Broadland looked solid until the final whistle. Credit must go to Umpire Jackie Glenn who despite being stung by a wasp half way through the second half, soldiered on until the end of the game. |
