Match Report |
Division 3 Broadland III 6 Norwich Dragons 0 Broadland’s joint star players Wendy Anema and Kat Maddox were outstanding as their third string severely tested Norwich Dragons VIII. Anema opened the scoring for the home side with a blistering run and powerful strike as the Broadland forwards and midfield pinned the Dragons team in their own half. ‘Dinky’ Topley fired through a sea of legs to double their score, the ball being helped over the line by a visitor’s foot. Anema now in full flow drove into the circle and picked out her daughter Amelia by the far post, who with great satisfaction swept the ball home for Broadland’s third goal of the afternoon. With Broadland dominating the ball, the second half was almost a repeat of the first, with Anema blasting in her second goal immediately after the break. Dragons star player Amelia Keltley-Webb worked tirelessly to keep her team in the game but could do little to prevent Kat Maddox finding the Dragons net after a strong run. In the dying moments of the game Izzie London sealed the win for Broadland with a skilful reverse stick hit after her initial penalty corner strike was well saved by the visitor’s keeper.
