Match Report | . Division 3 Loddon II 2 Broadland III 4 Broadland III started the game nervously knowing they needed to win to secure promotion and the Division 3 title. A goal from Loddon after 10 minutes although disappointing, gave Broadland a wakeup call they needed and the equaliser quickly followed when Kat Maddox confidently placed a penalty stroke low to the home team keeper’s left. Within minutes Broadland were awarded another stroke after a Loddon defender prevented the ball from crossing the line with her hand. Maddox’s impressive flick into the roof of the net giving the keeper little opportunity to make a save. With Broadland now buzzing around the Loddon goal a rugged tackle by a Loddon defender lead to yet another penalty stroke. Maddox stepped up to power the ball home, wide of the keeper’s right hand. Broadland sensing the title was within their grasp pushed their star player defender Tessa Hewitt further forward, giving Wendy Anema more time and space which she used to great effect to pick out Broadland’s captain Carolyn Duthie who powered home a fourth goal. Sarah Craig in the Broadland goal despite having an outstanding game in goal could not prevent Loddon pulling a goal back close to the final whistle.Broadland III play Hornets in their final game next week and as Hornets are the only side to have defeated them the match looks to be a cracker. |
