Match Report |
Division 1 Broadland II 4 Harleston V 3 With end to end play in the first half but no goals, the game burst into life within 30 seconds of the restart when Broadland’s Catherine Brewster raced unchallenged into the visitor’s circle to strike the ball across and past the young Harleston goalkeeper. Broadland inspired, stepped up the pace and doubled the lead when Nikki Baker pounced on a loose ball and without any hesitation, swivelling and firing home. Harleston visibly shaken at this point conceded again when Nikki Kent’s bullet of a strike took a deflection, wrong footing the visitor’s keeper. At this point Harleston returned Jose Tibbenham to the field and turned the game on its head. Jenna Freeman struck home a loose ball at a penalty corner to pull a goal back and with Broadland now finding it difficult to stem the Harleston attacks conceded again almost immediately as Tibbenham unleashed a powerful strike from the edge of the circle. Still reeling from this change of fortune Broadland looked at sixes and sevens as Victoria Spouncer was allowed to snap up an equaliser. With less than 10 minutes remaining Broadland pushed forward and found an unlikely winner at a penalty corner when Nina Torin found the net from close in.
