Match Report |
Division 1 Watton II 2 Broadland II 4 In spite of Watton II’s dominating the ball and keeping Broadland II on the back foot and being awarded numerous penalty corners, it was Broadland who took the lead when in their first serious attack in the 13 minute, scored through Nikki Kent. Watton clearly stung by this, doubled their efforts and continued to bombard the Broadland goal, but were undone again when the marauding Kent swivelled and fired home Broadland’s second. Watton were rewarded for their efforts when Charlotte Clubb pulled a goal back at a penalty corner towards the end of the half. With Watton seeking an equalizer and pushing forward they were always likely to concede again and this they did when at a rare penalty corner following a rash challenge, the ball was volleyed in by Abi Dennison after Tamsin Highfields initial strike had been blocked by the home team’s keeper. Kent found the net again to complete a well deserved hattrick but Watton to their credit never gave up and pulled a goal back just before the final whistle, with Catherine Snowling finishing after a muddle in Broadland’s defence.
