Broadland II  4    Watton II  0

A confident Broadland dominated possession from the start and were rewarded with an excellent goal from open play when Tamsin Highfield collected a pass at the top of the circle and chose her spot to easily beat the Watton ‘keeper.  Broadland kept Watton on the back foot and doubled their lead through Nikki Kent who was well placed to guide the ball over the prostrate keeper and into the visitor’s net. Unfortunately, Kent had to be withdrawn a couple of minutes later with a facial injury. Catherine Brewster, her replacement, put Broadland further ahead with almost her first touch turning in a loose ball in front of the keeper.   Watton worked hard to keep in the game with Alicia Gregory in the Watton goal made a number of timely saves to deny Broadland but could do little to prevent Broadland finding a fourth goal as Highfield was again on target in the last minute of the half.  The Watton captain, Billie-Jo Bailey’s half-time talk must have been inspirational as her team upped their game in the second half with their keeper Gregory dominating her area and making some wonderful saves to deny Broadland. Broadland’s star player Lorna Cousins broke up a number of Watton attacks but even she could do little late on when Watton’s Samantha Jeffery worked her way through to the Broadland circle but unfortunately this came to nothing as the Broadland defence closed ranks to deny her a shot.
