Broadland III 6 Loddon II 1
Broadland III, last season’s Empressa Norfolk Women’s hockey league Division 3 champions, made light work of their pre-season match against Loddon II. Wendy Anema, joint star player with midfield dynamo Ann Harper, took centre stage with a hat-trick with two goals early in the first half and another just after the break. Carolyn Duthie emphasised Broadland’s grip on the game with a simple finish through two defenders’ legs. A lapse of concentration however, mid –way through the second half saw Loddon II pull a goal back but Broadland quickly reasserted their grip on the game when Kat Maddox powered home her first goal of the season. Hannah Griffiths and Katie Middlege in her debut game for Broadland both had excellent opportunities but it was their youngest team member Amelia Anema who sealed the victory for Broadland with a late goal.
