Match Report | Saturday 15th September 2018 Empresa Norfolk Ladies Hockey League Premier Division Broadland 1 6 Broadland 2 1 In this first ever competitive game between Broadland 1’s and Broadland 2’s it was a tough introductory premier league game for the newly promoted Broadland second XI, with the more experienced and fitter of the two sides coming out on top. Broadland 1’s dominating from the start, took an early lead through Dani Parke, her powerful shot ricocheting off a defender’s stick to deceive Emma Piddock in the second team goal. Within minutes Broadland 1’s doubled their lead as Kelly Allen ran onto a through ball from Hattie Hobart and easily beat the 2’s goal keeper from close in. Hobart turned provider again, picking out Parke who slotted the ball home for a third. Broadland 2’s getting their attack going with Nikki Kent and Nina Torin supporting lone striker Holley Becker, pulled a goal back when Torin’s initial shot, at their first short corner of the game, fell to the stick of Becker, whose lifted strike struck the bar and dropped over the line. Any hopes of a 2nd team revival in the second period were dashed with Parke completing a hat trick after a darting run from Natasha Blyth caused havoc in the 2nd’s defence. Parke struck again for her fourth goal of the game and as the clock ticked down Abi Dennison, recently promoted to the 1st team squad struck the final blow against her former team mates, converting a penalty corner by the far post.
