Premier Division Broadland II 4 Lowestoft Railway 1 Stunned by a Carre Varley goal within 60 seconds of the start Lowestoft Railway however dominated the early period of the game but failed to break through a very determined Broadland defence with Jen Crawford their goal keeper making some sublime saves to deny the visitors. The game could have gone either way in the second half with Broadland soaking up a lot of pressure with numerous last -ditch tackles and saves on the line, preventing them from conceding. Lowestoft Railway committed to attack were undone when Nikki Baker finished off a flowing move and then conceded again when Varley powered home the perfect penalty corner minutes later. Broadland’s star player, Varley, completed a hattrick almost immediately with another penalty corner strike which was deflected high into the net off a defender’s stick. Katie Taubman converted a penalty stroke for Lowestoft Railway late on after Broadland’s keeper rashly upended one of their attackers just inside the circle.
