Premier Division Dereham III 1 Broadland II 3 With both sides in need of points the game was closer than the score suggests and could have gone either way in the first half. Broadland’s positional changes at the break reaped dividends with Broadland gaining the initiative soon after with a goal at their first penalty corner. Nikki Baker’s powerful strike ricocheting into the roof of the net off a defender’s stick. Baker doubled their lead a few minutes later, ghosting behind the last defender to direct the ball into the Dereham net. Eleanor Ampleford pulled a goal back for Dereham at a rare break but as Broadland piled on the pressure, they again caught the Dereham defence flat footed as Holley Becker skilfully side stepped a lunging challenge to slip the ball behind the home keeper to complete the scoring. |
