Some desperate defending by Broadland II’s saw them safely through the first quarter of the game as UEA looked to put last week’s demoralising defeat by Broadland Ist XI behind them. It was Broadland, however who took the lead when Nikki Baker’s penalty corner strike struck a defender’s foot and ballooned over the UEA defence and goalkeeper for the opening goal.  Broadland looked a different side and began to assert themselves on the home team and doubled their lead after some slick interchanges presented Holley Becker with a difficult finish at the back post.  UEA dominated the early stages of the second half and what was said by their coach at half time is a mystery but whatever it was UEA scored twice in a 5-minute period to set up an exciting last 20 minutes. Clearly shaken by this set back, Broadland stiffened their resolve and although UEA looked likely to find a winning goal at any moment it was Broadland who snatched all the points at the death when their captain Nikki Kent raced away to smash the ball across the UEA keeper and in by the far post.
