Match Report |
East Men’s Hockey League Division 5 (North East) Broadland Exiles 6 Pelicans III 4 Having had a penalty stroke saved by the Pelicans keeper, Broadland Exiles succumbed to a breakaway goal and conceded again minutes later as Pelicans found the home teams net again. Exiles stung by this further set back stepped up their game, playing some excellent passing hockey to fashion a reply which was slotted home by Martin James. James’s clearance from a Pelicans penalty corner was picked up by the Exiles captain Simon Nesbit , who in turn found Ian White then set up an equaliser for Exiles when Fergus Clarke neatly found the bottom corner. Pelicans hit back straight away to lead by 3 goals to 2 at the break. A more determined Exiles came out in the second period and found an equaliser within minutes of the restart with a thunderous strike from White nearly burst the roof of the net. Exiles now in full flow took the lead when Sam Brewster scored following good work by Clarke and doubled their lead when Brewster found the Pelican’s net again a few minutes later. Pelicans scored a fourth goal just before the end, but Exiles had the last word when Nesbit fired home a penalty corner for their sixth and final goal. |
