Broadland Exiles 6    Norwich City VI  0                             Paper report

Exiles continue to keep the pressure on league leaders UEA III with a haltering performance yet decisive victory over local rivals Norwich City VI. After an unconvincing start Rob Panter fired Exiles into the lead converting a penalty corner.  Good attacking play on the right by captain Simon Nesbit and the resulting cross enabled Exiles to consolidate their lead when Ian White whipped the ball in for their second.  Exiles had to defend in depth for the first few minutes or so of the second half as Norwich City VI sort to break them down but as soon as Martin James ghosted in and scored Broadland’s third goal, Exiles relaxed, and goals began to flow. Nesbit increased their lead after Ian White set him up and then White found another, deflecting Mark Varley’s vicious cross into the City net.  With the game almost over a well struck cross from James  was picked up by Ricky Powley and fired into the roof of the goal.

Match Report - 01/12/2018 Exiles v Norwich 6’s           Sam's Report

This was the last game of the first half of the season for exiles and a win would set us on the way to a great head-start into the second half of the season.. Exiles started poorly and the flow of hockey wasn’t great.. still when we got a short corner on the 10 minute mark our ever trusty Rob Panter stepped up and smashed home our first goal. We continued to play poorly, but after gaining a bit of momentum scored our second when Simon Nisbet put it on a plate for Ian White to slap home. Half Time 2-0.

Second half rolled on and we seemed to get worse and absorbed a sustained period of pressure. The second half of the second half showed a better performance which culminated in 4 goals. The first of which came when Martin James popped up in the D to slot home from close range. The second came when Ian White returned the favour to Simon Nisbet who pushed into an open goal. The Third was scored when Mark Varley lashed a shot at goal which Ian White diverted into the goal for his second of the game. The last and best goal came when Martin James battered a beaut into the D and Ricky Powley got his stick down to flick the ball powerfully into the roof of the net. End Result 6-0.
