Match Report |
East Men’s Hockey League Division V North East Broadland Exiles 7 Harleston Magpies V 2 Exiles started the game in a determined fashion and were ahead in the first five minutes with a close-range effort from Robbie Whiting. Exiles doubled the lead moments later when new Exiles player Dan Cheeseman smashed in his first goal for the club. Cheeseman continued to cause problems for the visitors and hit every part of the goal frame with the help of some great saves from the Magpies keeper. Exiles were relentless and Martin James added a third poaching by the back post. Realising a comprehensive victory was on the cards Mark Varley stormed forward and lifted a superb effort up and over the stranded keeper Varley, now with the wind in his sails scored again with a wonderful piece of skill, plucking the ball out of the air and lofting it over the keeper. The only first half disappointment for Exiles was a scrappy goal from Magpies The early period of the second half lacked the pace of the first, which suited Magpies who scored again to suggest a fight back but Exiles bounced back when the elusive Cheeseman added two more to complete a hat trick on his debut with both goals coming from wonderful dribbles and devastating shooting from the edge of the circle.
