Match Report | Saturday 2nd November 2019 East Women’s Hockey League Division 2 (North East) Broadland 1 Watton 2 Empresa Norfolk Women’s Hockey League Premier Division A driving run from Broadland’s Dani Parke and fierce shot caused confusion in the Watton goal mouth with Kelly Allen pouncing on the loose ball to put the home side ahead within 5 minutes of the start. This was somewhat of a wake-up call for league leaders Watton who kept Broadland on the back foot for the majority of the first half. Watton vulnerable to counterattacks from Broadland had a lucky escape when a breakaway by Broadland saw the ball ricochet off the base of the post to safety. Watton however, continued to dominate and eventually found an equaliser in the 28th minute. Broadland very much still in the game in the second half continued to press but a determined Watton and some unfortunate injuries to three Broadland players, disrupted their game and reduced them to nine players on three occasions and so nullified their opportunities. Watton were not so unfortunate and found the winner 15 minutes from the end. . |
