Match Report |
Empresa Norfolk Ladies League Premier Division Broadland II 1 Pelicans II 0 With both teams anchored at the bottom of the table, neither of them with a point, pride rather than points was at stake. Pelicans matched Broadland in every department with the defences of both teams making some heroic last ditch tackles and goal mouth clearances, but it was Broadland who gleaned the points early in the game when Nikki Baker having set up a scoring opportunity for their captain Holley Beckey, pounced on a weak defensive blocked shot to crash home what turned out to be the winner. What is more remarkable from Broadland’s point of view is that Emily Warren-Ward in goal for Broadland not only was it her first game for home side, but her first hockey match ever and remarkably saved everything Pelicans threw at her. e. |
