Match Report | Saturday 23rd November 2019 East Women’s Hockey League Division 2 (North East) Christchurch 1 Broadland 2 Broadland commenced the game with some determination and looked likely to score at any moment but for some wayward finishing. Helen Brockington put Broadland ahead following a confused period of play, slipping the ball passed the home side’s prostrate keeper. Christchurch threw everything they had at the Broadland rear-guard with Jen Crawford in the Broadland goal having to make numerous saves but eventually conceded an equalizer after a period of extended pressure. Broadland unsettled, but determined by this set back, stormed back into the game and re-took the lead when the mercurial Lydia Lawrence found Rachel Fields who swept the ball into the path of Kelly Allen, who with great calmness lifted the ball over the home sides keeper. Christchurch still in the game had a number of good opportunities in the second half but keeper Crawford made some crucial saves to deny Christchurch a second equalizer. With Broadland now starting to dominate possession and in total control of the game with their star player Catherine Brewster bossing midfield they had a number of good opportunities to extend their lead but just could not add to the final score.
