Match Report | East Men’s Hockey League Division 5 (North East) Broadland Exiles 3 Norwich Dragons V 2 In a battle royale league leaders Broadland came from a goal down at the break to record their first win of 2020.- This first game after Christmas was a torrid affair with both teams - some-what rusty. After an even start Dragons took the lead when a poor pass bobbled past Exiles GK to be tapped in at the back post. Exiles then regained their composure and equalised when Dan Cheesman lashed in his first goal with a reverse hit shot from the left -hand side of the circle. Dragons took the lead for a second time when another weak pass dribbled through to a Dragons striker to tap in at the back post. The first half ended a disappointing 1-2. The second half was a different story. Exiles started strongly, and after some brilliant teamwork which involved some slick passing, Exiles were awarded a penalty corner which Dan Cheesman dispatched in style. Exiles continued to press, without finding that last piece of the puzzle until, ironically, Dragons attacking in numbers left them exposed at the back. Exiles man of the match Ricky Powley stepped up and after a vital challenge sent a long bullet pass up to Dan Cheesman who ghosted past the only defender in front of him to smash home the winner with another superb reverse stick shot. Exiles ran out the rest of the game in relative ease with some wonderful simple hockey.
