Match Report | Saturday 1st February 2020 East Women’s Hockey League Division II North East Norwich Dragons II 1 Broadland 2 Norwich Dragons, comfortably sitting in mid-table took an early lead when the ball rebounded into the path of an incoming forward off a post. Broadland’s goalkeeper, Jen Crawford, was left flat footed and unable to recover as the Dragon’s attacker swept the ball into the visitor’s net. Broadland had a number of opportunities to claw their way back into the game, as did Dragons, to extend their lead, but with neither team creating clear opportunities and/or dominating play, goals looked to be in short supply. Broadland however had other ideas and after a period of swift interchange which carried the ball to just inside the Dragons circle, Helen Kelly unleashed a powerful shot which although blocked by the Dragon’s keeper rebounded to her stick and with great assurance she found the equalizer for Broadland. Spurred on by this Broadland began to control the game and found the eventual winner when Helen Brockington fierce shot also struck a post and with Broadland’s star player Natasha Blyth swiftly on hand, she slipped the ball to Nikki Kent who gleefully swept the ball over the line.
