Match Report | East Men’s Hockey League Division 5 (North East) Norwich Dragons IV 3 v Broadland Exiles 4 Broadland Exiles started badly and went one nil down within the first 5 minutes after some good play by Dragons when their right winger was slipped a pass which he lashed into the bottom left hand corner. Exiles against the run of play equalised when goal scoring talisman Dan Cheeseman scored a solo effort with a run from the halfway line which he dispatched with some style. Dragons were awarded a penalty corner shortly after and completed with a bullet of a strike into the bottom left hand corner giving Dragons a half time lead. Exiles who had been looking better towards the end of the first half came out in the second half with more spirit and equalised early when Sam Brewster surged into their half and fed the ball into Ian White at the top of the circle. White turned and sent a laser guided shot past the Dragons’ keeper to make it 2-2. Exiles then took the lead for the first time through a penalty corner which Dan Cheeseman flicked into the roof of the net. Dragons however, bounced back with a goal of their own when a well struck pass was deflected in off the foot of Ricky Powley. Exiles were determined to win this game. Dan Cheeseman completed his hat trick with his 48th goal of the season when he blasted in an effort that took a deflection to wrong foot the Dragons keeper to make it 3-4. Exiles goalkeeper James Edward-Scott was in great form as was sweeper Ricky Powley as despite intense pressure from the home side the visitors saw out the game. |
