Exiles went into this game knowing a win would clinch the title after Pelicans had been defeated by Sudbury earlier in the day. Exiles started strongly and took the lead when a short corner struck with venom by Will Mullen, was stopped on the line by the foot of an East Coast player only for Ian White to scramble it in from close range. Easy Coast then took a turn at dominating possession and were awarded a slightly fortuitous short corner which they took full advantage of to make it 1-1. On this pendulum of a match, Exiles then re took the lead when some excellent hockey between Dan Cheeseman and Mark Varley, led to Varley sending an unselfish pass across to Fergus Clarke to tap in to make it 2-1. Halftime. East Coast started strongly and equalised when a strong run ended with the ball being bundled in the far left corner. Exiles surged again with Dan Cheeseman sending the opposing defenders diving every which way and finished with a delightfully delicate shot which beat the keeper to restore Exiles lead for a third time. Unfortunately, East Coast bounced back to equalise yet again when a penalty corner pass was fired at Sam Brewster who deflected the ball into his own net, leaving the keeper James Edward Scott with little opportunity to make a save. However, Exiles had the last laugh when Dan Cheeseman scored his 51st goal of the season to give Exiles a lasting lead which subsequently secured the title with two games to spare.
