East Women’s Hockey League Division 2 (North East)
Broadland 8 Christchurch 0
Christchurch, already relegated were complete out played by mid-table Broadland who surged ahead when Kelly Allen snapped up a half-chance after just 4 minutes to take the lead. Helen Brockington who had been suffering a goal drought this season doubled Broadland’s advantage within a couple of minutes and with Broadland looking likely to add to their lead at any moment Helen Kelly swept forward and was rewarded with Broadland’s third goal a minute later. Lydia Lawrence, always on the lookout for defensive errors was well position for Broadland’s fourth goal of the game after 26 minutes, with Brockington again on target a few minutes later. Broadland started the second period in high spirits and nearly paid the price with some sloppy passes and casual and somewhat lazy tackles which raised Christchurch’s hopes of a revival. Broadland however, grabbed back control of the game in the 50th minute through Brockington who completed her hat trick. Still reeling from this further set back the Christchurch defence failed to pick up Kelly who with some style scored her second of the game. Brockington, not finished yet, fired in her fourth goal of the game near the end of this extremely one sided contest.
