Division 2 (North East)

Norwich Dragons III   3     Broadland 2

Disappointing defeat at Dragons

Despite missing 5 of their regular squad, Broadland made a positive start to their first match since the end of Lockdown (2).  Verity Becker made a strong run down the left and hit a powerful cross to Helen Harper at the top of the circle. With great expertise Harper deflected the ball into the Dragon’s goal to give Broadland an early 1-0 lead.  Broadland made some more excellent attacks especially through the hard work of Lydia Lawrence and Natasha Blyth. Dragons scored twice to put Broadland on the back foot, but another strong run into the circle again by Becker resulted in a well struck shot and from her and an equaliser just before the half-time whistle.

Dragons pressed hard in the second half with Broadland’s defenders copping well with the pressure. Rachel Fields and Hattie Hobart tracked and tackled effectively stopped countless attacks with Jen Crawford, in the Broadland goal, being called on to make some excellent saves.  Both teams had several opportunities to score but  eventually Dragons found a further goal to take the game and the points

Abi Denison, Rachel Fields, and Natasha Blyth were deservedly voted Broadland’s joint star players Tess Hewitt, Verity Becker and Holley Becker had great games stepping up to support Broadland’s 1st XI.
