Match Report | Saturday 18th September 2021Broadland I 2 Dereham II 3 Dereham II forced Broadland to defend for much of the early stages of this first league game of the season but gradually started to manufacture opportunities as Dereham’s initial forward momentum ran out of steam. As Broadland pushed forward a strong ball sent up field fell invitingly to the stick of Dereham’s Haley Toleman who gave her side the lead after 16 minutes. Broadland continued to pressure the visitor’s goal and equalized at a penalty corner through Dani Parke who lobbed the keeper from the edge of the circle. Toleman scored again in the 32nd minute as again Dereham broke Broadland’s press with a hard struck ball down the centre. The second period was dominated by Broadland with numerous opportunities going begging and as is always the case got caught out again with another hard-hit ball out of the Dereham defence was collected by Toleman to complete an early season hattrick. Broadland continued to bombard the Dereham goal and eventually pulled a goal back through Dani Parke with the last hit of the game. Report by Terry Ransom |
