Match Report | Saturday 9th October 2021 East Women’s Hockey League Division 2 North East Broadland 2 Harleston 4 1 Kelly Allen, restored to the Broadland attack after a lengthy period at full back gave Broadland the lead as they dominated play early on to kept Magpies firmly pinned in their half. Leading at the break Broadland should really have put the game to bed in the first half but some resolute defending and frantic clearances by Magpies gave them the opportunity to steady themselves and threaten the Broadland goal. Magpies looked much stronger at the start of the second period but then increasingly more fragile at the back as Broadland’s Verity Becker burst through on a number of occasions to get a shot away. Eventually Magpies conceded again as Becker’s attempt evaded the lunging keeper and struck the inside of the far post and crossed the line for Broadland’s second goal. Late on Magpies pulled a goal back but with a volley high into the back of the home side net but by then it was too little and too late. |
