Match Report | East Men’s Hockey League Division 4 North East Broadland Exiles 3 Dereham III 5 Broadland Exiles fine start to the season came to a juddering halt as they were defeated by a fired up Dereham III. Broadland Exiles began the game in a confident manner and looked sharp enough to find an early goal, but for all their efforts it was Dereham who went ahead with a smart finish after an unfortunate muddle in the Exiles defence’ Dereham doubled their lead with another well struck finish but a goal by Rob Panter just before the break kept Exiles in the contest. Broadland buoyed by this might have gone on to win the game, but a soft goal conceded within 3 minutes of the start of the second half took the wind out of their sails and again some loose tackles and misfortune gave Dereham the opportunity to put the game to bed with two further quick goals. Ian White and Dan Cheeseman pulled a couple of goals back for Broadland Exiles but in spite of all-out attack they could not find any further openings to unsettle the visitors. |
