Match Report | Saturday 27th November 2021 East Women’s Hockey League Division 2 North East
Broadland 0 Colchester Although Colchester dominated the opening quarter of an hour it was Broadland who looked more dangerous on the break. Dani Parke was on fire in the Broadland goal, making a number of gravity defying saves and crucial interceptions early=on to keep her side in the game. Broadland looking pretty secure at the back matched Colchester so much so that a stalemate looked to be the likely outcome. Ten minutes into the second half, all that changed when a Colchester move down their right wing saw the ball fired in from just inside the home teams circle, towards the mix in front of the Broadland goal. A gross deflection off ‘who knows stick’, rocketed upwards into the roof of the net giving Parke little opportunity to make a save. Broadland, unfortunately reduced to 10 players at one point’ just needed the ball to run kindly for them in the last quarter of the game as they pressed the visitor’s defence looking for an equalizer. No such luck as the Colchester hung on to the final whistle.
