Match Report | Saturday 4th December 2021 East Women’s Hockey League Division 2 North East Norwich Dragons II 3 Broadland 1 Norwich Dragons II started strongly and playing with great confidence put Broadland under some intense scrutiny at the back, taking an early lead through Harriet Marlee whose confident strike flew past Dani Parke in the Broadland goal. Sustained pressure by Dragons kept Broadland on the backfoot and a second goal within 5 minutes from Mandy Reynolds rewarded their efforts. Broadland rallied and settled into the game, putting pressure on the home side , and looked dangerous going forward particularly down the left-hand side of the pitch. Dragons continued to press the Broadland backline and were awarded a penalty corner 5 mins from end of the first half, which was crisply converted with a cracking drag flick by Maddy Reynolds from the top of the circle into the top right corner of the goal. A change of personnel at half time with Dani Parke being replaced in goal by Jen Crawford and the injured Holley Becker making way for Dani Parke in her more familiar out-field role, raised Broadland’s spirits somewhat. When Parke lobbed the Dragon’s keeper at a penalty corner just 5 minutes after the restart Broadland began to show their true class and with both sides showing great determination for different reasons the game became increasingly competitive with both defences holding strong as the game swept from one end to the other
