Diss held the whip hand for much of the first half but for poor distribution by their midfield and the inability to control the ball quickly enough and a strike away meant they failed to get a meaningful shot on target. It began to  look increasingly like it would be 0 - 0 at the break. But no, in the final minute of the half a Broadland attack developed down the right and firm cross, brought Helen Harper into play on the left  and with some incredible tenacity she put the home team ahead forcing the ball into the visitor's net from close in.  Visibly lifted by the opener, the half ended with Broadland zipping the ball around with great confidence, purpose and pace.

Broadland invigorated by the goal, with their tails -up,  began to show what they are capable of, and now forcing the pace and dominating the game pushed forward and increase their lead with an opportunist’s goal from Anne Cocoram who helped the ball on its way into the visitor’s net.  Within a couple of minutes Broadland where awarded a penalty stroke but unfortunately the Diss keeper was experienced enough to go the right way to make a decent save.  Whether Broadland relaxed or Diss now still behind by two goals suddenly woke up, a cross from their right was fired in by their unmarked player a couple of yards out to draw them back into the game.  Sensing they might still get something out of the game a second goal from them within 5 minutes looked to have confirmed this, but Connie Harris had other ideas as she slalomed her way into the circle to put Broadland back in front with a crisp finish just inside the post, just minutes later.  This was easily Broadland 2’s best game of the season so far.  Brilliant at times but equally frustrating when there were better options available closer to hand than to give the ball away needlessly.   Report by Terry Ransom
