East Women’s League

Division 2 North East

Harleston Magpies III  4      Broadland   1

Knowing this would be a tough game Broadland began the game with great determination and restricted Harleston to a few clear opportunities  It was Harleston however, who took the lead at a penalty corner with a firm shot into the left-hand corner of the visitors’ goal.  Broadland’s response was almost immediate with a goal from Verity Becker, powered home after some excellent teamwork had turned defence into attack.  Broadland did have a number of opportunities to take the lead but couldn’t turn them into goals.  Broadlands’s star player Millie Derrick was in top form making some excellent tackles to frustrate Harleston, but despite her best efforts Harleston scored again at  penalty corner and two further goals from open play.  Broadlands’s Connie Harris, making her debut for the first team did not look out of place, creating a number of excellent opportunities for the over worked Dani Parke

Division 3 North East

Broadland II  0     Norwich City IV  4

With some last-minute changes and substitutes Broadland were able to field a team against near top of the table Norwich City 4’s for the 2nd time this Season.  City were fast and furious from the off with a very early goal from a penalty corner within the first few minutes gave them great start and the confidence to go with it, Broadland rallied quickly but were unable to prevent another tremendous shot from another penalty t corner hitting the back of the net a few minutes later. Sweeper Izzie London placed some strong  balls up field from the 16s but sadly was unable to bring the midfield into play.  The Broadland defence fought tirelessly but really struggled to get the ball past the solid Norwich forward line and sadly conceded another goal before half time as the ball ricocheted off Broadland’s keeper Dani Parke’s pads into the net for their third goal. .On the odd occasion that Broadland looked likely to make a breakthrough, the City defensive wall held firm and what opportunities created by Broadland’s star player Amy Robinson came to nought. Division 5 North East

Broadland III 0     Norwich City VII 0

Although the game lacked goals the endeavour was clearly shown as the game flowed from one end to the pitch to the other.

East Men’s Hockey League

Division 4 North East

Norwich City V  1     Broadland Exiles   7

With City V taking a lead early on and holding on to it for a lengthy part of the first half an upset looked likely, but with Exiles equalizing just before the break the mood of the game changed   What ever captain Sam Brewster said to his players as they reviewed the first half and what he formulated for the second period may remain a mystery but it certainly worked as with in a minute or so they were ahead and began to score at regular intervals to keep their league title ambitions on track. Dan Cheeseman scored four goals and Ed Sidgewick three goals.  Report from Terry Ransom
