Match Report | Saturday 12th February 2022 East Women’s Hockey League Division 5 North Broadland III 2 UEA V 1 Broadland, looking to reverse a defeat by UEA V earlier in the season, battered the UEA defence from the off, but in spite of a great number of opportunities failed to hit the target or bring the UEA goalkeeper into action. With no score at the break whoever scored first was most likely to take all the points. The game became more open with goalscoring opportunities at both ends, but with Broadland beginning to look stronger and some indiscipline in the UEA ranks, a goal looked likely for the home side at any time. A penalty corner halfway through the second half gave Broadland the breakthrough their incisive play deserved when Alecia Alexander powerful strike beat the UEA keeper by her left hand post. UEA upped their game and found an equaliser through Lauren McKay but with one of her colleagues cooling off in the last few minutes of the game Broadland snapped up the winner through ‘Corks’ Corcoran who drilled home the winner after some great teamwork in the final third of the pitch.
