Match Report | Saturday 5th March 2022 East Women’s Hockey League
Division 5 North East North Broadland 1 Harleston Magpies VIII 0 Harleston Magpies VIII dominated much of the first half and had a number of really good opportunities to take the lead but some resolute defending by the Broadland rear guard kept Magpies at arm’s length. Approaching half time, a change in Broadland’s formation, together with some better-quality play and slice or two of good fortune saw the home team beginning to penetrate the visitor’s defence which up to then until had hardly broken a sweat. A flurry of penalty corners very late on at the Harleston end, a defender’s foot/shin on the line, might have led to a penalty stroke, but no need for the formality as the energetic and alert Sally Logue drove the loose ball home for the only goal of the game. The second half was almost a reflection of the first half with Broadland now in charge, but in spite of lengthy periods of possession very few opportunities arose to add to the solitary goal.
