Yarmouth 0 Broadland 6

Broadland dominated the opening stages of this important away fixture at Cliffe Park in Gorleston with the intention of building onto their excellent start to the season with a seventh consecutive win. Awarded a penalty corner in the 15 minute, Broadland went ahead through Emma Richardson who having received the ball directly from the Broadland injector carefully picked her spot to slip the ball past the Yarmouth goalkeeper for the opening goal. Emma doubled Broadland’s lead in the 28th minute with her second penalty corner goal following slip-pass from Natasha Blyth. Before Yarmouth could digest this, another penalty goal, a deflection past the home team’s goalkeeper by Blyth, in the last few minutes of the half, really gave Yarmouth something to think about at half time. Whatever Yarmouth thoughts and plans might be at half time team talk, they all fell apart when a fierce shot from Blyth, in the last minute of the half, was charged down by a home defender. Rachel Fields stepped up to take the resulting penalty stroke, firing low and left, giving the keeper little opportunity to make a save. With a four-goal deficit and clearly stung by the constant Broadland attacks Yarmouth strengthened their resolve in the second half, but always looked vulnerable as Broadland continued to mop up their scattered attacks. Broadland midfielder Natasha Blyth completed a brace with a fine finish following a smart one-two with Helen Kelly Broadland rapped the game up late on when their leading goal scorer Kelly Allen, set up by Connie Harris, forced the ball home through the keepers’ legs for their sixth and final goal.
