Broadland   3     Evergreens   1

Broadland were not expecting an easy game this week. Evergreens, always combative and firmly placed in midtable began quite strongly and held the upper hand for the first few minutes of the game. They were unable however, to make head way against Broadland’s well organised defence  With Jess Bennett prominent in denying Evergreens the opportunity to shoot on the few occasions they got past the home sides midfield.  Broadland were patient and started to build on their game, with some great passing out of their defence to their midfield and their attack.   Awarded a penalty corner after 17 minutes , Broadland took the lead through Emma Richardson following a well worked set up by Natasha Blyth   Broadland looking likely to score at every opportunity, were awarded another penalty corner in the 24th minute.  Broadland’s star player Natasha Blyth’s first-time effort easily beat the Evergreens’ keeper by the left-hand post. Although this was a setback for the visitors Evergreens were undeterred and continued to probe and challenge Broadland for possession until the half time whistle. Broadland continued where they had  left off and began the second period with some great passing moves which left the Evergreens defence exposed. At 44 minutes Verity Becker received the ball at the top of the circle , running at great pace Becker swerved round one defender, skipped passed another and resisted a desperate tackle to blast the ball passed the rooted Evergreens keeper for Broadland’s third goal.  Evergreens fighting hard, kept in the game and scored only few minutes later through Chantelle Baker, whose sliding attempt from close in gave Broadland’s keeper and captain Jen Crawford little opportunity to make a save.  A hard-fought win for unbeaten Broadland but a win, nevertheless.  Broadland look onforward to next Saturday’s fixture against Dereham 2s who like Broadland are unbeaten this season.
