Match Report | Saturday 4th March 2023 East Women’s Hockey League Division 3 North East (North) Broadland 5 Yarmouth 0 Title contenders Broadland held the upper-hand right from the off and took an early lead through Lydia Lawrence, well placed to finish by the far post. A Yarmouth foot on the line, well several feet, resulted in a penalty stroke being awarded. Emma Richardson stepped up and with some panache, confidently placed the ball past the away team’s keeper. Leading by two goals at the break Broadland continued to control the game but Yarmouth still believing they could get something out of the game mounted a number of forays up field. Although Broadland continued to dominate, Yarmouth didn't give up and their defence remained solid. Occasionally they pushed forwards when they could, but any attacks were quickly shut down by the Broadland defence. In the last quarter of the game Helen Kelly who had been outstanding on Broadland’s right, found the space and time to increase the home sides lead. Terrific team play, especially by Broadlands’s joint star players midfield duo of Isabelle and Connie Harris created a number of opportunities throughout the game but it wasn’t until the last 15 minutes that Kelly Allen, beavering away up front, eventually got the goal she was looking for, twice in fact.
