Broadland Hockey Club Summer League 2021

To see FIXTURES: follow the link above. Then click on Matches on the left hand side. In the drop downs select Match Group All, and then you can click again to select the division you are in, or go straight to the teams list and choose your team. All your matches including dates, times and pitch number will be listed.

To see RESULTS: follow the link above. Then click on results on the left hand side. Use the drop downs to select just your division or team if required.

To see TABLES: follow the link above. Tables are on the home page, scroll right to see the other divisions. Or click on standings on the left hand side and use the drop downs to select the division.


Competition Rules:

  • Games are 7 a side. Squad size maximum of 10 per night.

  • Home team will be required to provide umpire and match ball. One umpire per game. Umpires do not need to be qualified and can use the summer league as practice matches.

  • If you wish to have 2 umpires please liaise with your opposition but be prepared to provide the 2nd umpire if you are requesting it. 

  • In the event of a clash the Away team must change colour. Bibs can not be provided due to Covid restrictions.

  • Players may only play for 1 team unless by express permission of the league organisers, not including goalies. Teams from the same Club will be expected to have separate squads.

  • Normal hockey rules apply. Except…

    • Match to be played on ½ pitch.

    • At short corners the remaining 2 defensive players must stand in the opposite circle.

    • If a short corner is awarded as half time or full time is called the corner will be played as per normal rules.

    • Rules that usually apply within the 25yd area will apply from the half way line.

    • Matches will be 12 minutes each way, no half time. Central Timing.

  • Any team found to be in breach of the rules may forfeit their place in the league.

  • The league organisers decision is final.

  • Teams must provide their own first aid.


League Structure:

  • League Winners decided by points. 3 points for win, 1 point for draw.

  • Places in the leagues will be decided (after points) on

    • Goal difference

    • Goals for

    • Result of match between teams (aggregated where teams play more than once)

    • Penalty Strokes


Covid specific Rules/restrictions:

  • There is a one way system in place on the TRF site. Please follow the signs around the outside of the clubhouse. See map here.

  • The clubhouse and bar will not be open. You may NOT use the clubroom, even if it is raining. Please bring appropriate clothing for the weather!

  • Changing facilities will not be available. Please come ready to play.

  • Spectators should be discouraged from attending so as to minimise the number of people at the venue on any given night.

  • Toilet facilities are available and can be accessed through the main front doors of the clubhouse. Please use the sanitiser provided and wear a face mask if you are not medically exempt. If there are a number of people in there already please use common sense and wait outside until they have finished.

  • No one is allowed in the area between the pitchs unless entering to play or exiting from a match. All teams must congregate on the large grass area, maintaining social distancing from each other and in a separate space to other teams. See map here.

  • Please bring as little kit with you as necessary, and only take what is necessary onto the pitches (you may want to leave valuables in your car or at home). Place your kit in the areas marked on the map here.

  • When exiting the pitch please use the gates nearest the entrance (see map here) and exit as promptly as possible maintaining social distnace from other teams.

  • When entering the pitch: (see arrows on map here)

    • if you are playing on pitch 2 or 4 (the far ends) please enter prior to the end of the previous match and wait in socially distanced groups near the far gates (listen for the half time bell/whistle so you know when to go on). You may enter through the top gates as soon as all the previous players have left the pitch.

    • if you are playing on pitch 1 or 3 (the near ends) please wait for all previous players to leave the pitches and then enter via the near gates. Make space to allow the teams to exit safely.

  • Avoid touching the goals or ball with your hands. Equipment should be in place for the first match. Please use sanitiser and wipe surfaces if necessary. 

  • Summer league will continue through 2 further changes to the government rules (if the roadmap dates dont change), the above covid rules for summer league will stay in place for the entire duration of the league regardless. If we decide to make changes they will be notified to your team organisers and updated on here.

  • In addition to the above local rules all England Hockey Covid guidance should also be followed including submitting attendance information to England Hockey Track and Trace.
